Workers in loud industries, such as those including extended use of heavy machinery, are subject to permanent hearing damage caused by prolonged exposure to noise. Employers are required to supply their staff with noise dosimeters that will track the amount and level of noise a worker is subjected to. Currently, workers should not be subject to noise levels above 80dB(A) in an 8-hour period.
