Principal of Operation: the source lamp used is specifically designed to emit a wavelength of 253.7nm, which is the optimal absorption spectrum for elemental mercury. The atoms of mercury that absorb light from the source lamp count as a 'hit'. The concentration of mercury is then calculated based on energy absorbance.
