USES/SOURCES: As a thinner for paints and lacquers; as a component of high octane aviation fuel; in production of styrene; in organic synthesis.
TOXICOLOGY: Cumeme is an eye and mucus membrane irritant. At high concentrations, it causes narcosis in animals; it is expected that severe exposure will produce the same effect in humans. If inhalation of high concentrations of the vapour did occur, dizziness, incoordination, and unconsciousness could be expected.
