Confined Space Monitors

Any worker in a small or constricted space is under potential threat from toxic gases and incidents involving man-down.

This is because the space will fill with the substance quicker and ease of exit may be inhibited. Regulations require that work areas defined as “confined spaces” must be subject to evaluation before entry to protect first responders and workers. This is where confined space monitors become important.

The instruments supplied by AES feature sensors to monitor oxygen concentration, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide as well as the risk of combustion (which is why they are also known as OFCH monitors). All of these substances can pose significant threats to workers in small or constricted areas, so must be monitored closely.

Datalogging, recording and real-time wireless capability is becoming an important feature for confined space gas monitors, enabling central control centres to manage worker safety from remote locations.

Many of the confined space monitors manufactured by RAE Systems also have the ability to include a PID sensor so you have the added benefit of being able to check a wide range of other unknown threats.

AES are authorised agents for RAE Systems by Honeywell in Australia. We can help you to determine which of our confined space gas detectors will best meet the needs of your application and the threat that is likely to be present. Contact us for technical advice today.
