What is a PID?

A PID is a photoionization detector which measures VOC or Volatile Organic Compounds and other toxic gases in very low concentrations from ppb (parts per billion) up to 10,000 ppm (parts per million) or 1% by volume.  A PID is a very sensitive broad spectrum monitor, like a low level LEL monitor.   PIDs allow monitoring solutions for LEL measurements, Ammonia, HazMat response, Heat Transfer Fluids, Arson, Industrial Hygiene to assist with chemical exposures, Indoor Air Quality, Environmental  such as residual soil, water or air contamination, Safety such as confined space entry, Maintenance works such as leak detection, Domestic Preparedness and Clan Laboratories.
